X-Women soccer opens season with 0-0 draw

The X-Women soccer team opened 2011 AUS regular season play on Sunday and managed a 0-0 draw with the Acadia Axewomen in an afternoon game played at Wolfville, NS.

The X-Women outshot the Axewomen by an 11-7 margin but couldn’t solve Acadia goalkeeper Leisha Doyle. Veteran fifth year StFX keeper Anna Thompson earned the shutout with five saves.

Striker Jordan Brass had recorded three shots for the X-Women while teammates Olivia Zanette and Melanie Sunada each had two shots a piece. 

The two teams will face each other again this coming Friday, Sept. 16th as the X-Women again travel to Wiolfville for a 5:00 pm rematch against the Axewomen. StFX also plays their season opener this Sunday, Sept. 18th when they host the Memorial Seahawks at 1:00pm at Oland Stadium.
