Soccer X-Women 1-1 in weekend play

The soccer X-Women defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies by a 2-1 score Sunday afternoon in Halifax. The win rounded out a 1-1 weekend for the soccer squad as they also suffered a 2-0 loss at home Friday evening to the first place Cape Breton Capers.

In the win over Saint Mary’s, the X-Women goals were scored by veterans Amy MacKinnon and Allie Anderson. Anderson’s goal was scored off a corner kick.

Striker Shannon Boisvert was named the Player of the Game for the X-Women, while kelly Burgess was the Player of the Game for Saint MAry's, having scored their only goal. Jenna Guy earned the win in nets for StFX.

Friday evening, the Capers blanked the X-Women 2-0 as goals came from Erika Lannon and Nicholle Morrison. Eugenia Renderos was the Player of the Game for StFX.

The X-Women now own a 6-3-0 record and with 18 points sit in fourth place in the AUS standings. They will host a pair of game on the upcoming weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 24 the undefeated Dalhousie Tigers (6-0-3) will provide the opposition at 1:00 pm at StFX Oland Stadium while on Sunday, also at 1:00, the Saint Mary’s Huskies (4-4-2) will be in town.
