Soccer X-Women suffer first loss of season

The X-Women soccer team suffered their first losses of the season, dropping close games on the road to both Cape Breton and Dalhousie, each game by a 2-1 score.

On Sunday afternoon in Halifax the Tigers handed the X-Women a 2-1 loss as Katie Richard notched both goals for Dalhousie and was named Player of the Game.

\r\n

First year striker Nicole MacNeil earned Player of the Game honors for the X-Women and scored their lone goal of the game.

\r\n

Heather Armstrong and Taryn McKenna shared the netminding chores for the Tigers while Anna Thompson took the loss for the X-Women.

\r\n

Friday afternoon in Sydney, the X-Women lost by the same 2-1 score to the Cape Breton Capers. Michelle Morrison and Hannah Abenheimer provided the goals for the Capers in a hard fought game by both sides. Abenheimer was also named Player of the Game. Jessica MacDermid earned the win in nets.

X-Women striker Olivia Zanette scored for the X-Women, her third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Anna Thompson earned Player of the Game honors for the X-Women.

\r\n

The Capers now stand at 5-1-2 in a first place tie with Dalhousie (5-0-2) as the X-Women drop out of first place for the first time this season.

\r\n

The fourth place X-Women (5-2-0) will have the upcoming weekend off as the AUS schedule breaks for the Thanksgiving weekend and senior women’s nationals.
