X-Women playoff bound

Oct 29, 2007 - The X-Women soccer team are headed into the AUS playoffs after two weekend wins and a fifth place AUS finish. On Saturday afternoon at home the X-Women beat Mount Allison by a convincing 5-0 score. Player of the Game Amy MacKinnon scored two goals for the X-Women while Zuzana Majickova, Katie Prowse and Jessica Gray scored the other markers for StFX, who established a 2-0 half-time lead. Tatum Buckley was named Player of the Game for the Mounties. On Sunday afternoon, the X-Women defeated UPEI 1-0 with Player of the Game Katie Prowse scoring the lone maker for the X-Women 78 minutes into the game. Ashley Caulier was awarded Player of the Game honors for UPEI.\r\n\r\nThe X-Women finish the 2007 season with a 6-4-3 record and 24 points, in fifth place overall. The Cape Breton Capers claimed first place (11-1-1, 31 pts) followed by Dalhousie (10-2-1, 29 pts) Memorial (8-3-2, 25 pts) and Saint Mary's (7-4-2, 24 pts). The AUS tournament host UPEI Panthers round out the top six (6-5-2, 15 pts) and will meet Memorial Friday evening at 5:00 pm in the first quarterfinal game. The X-Women will play Saint Mary's Friday at 7:00 pm with the two winners advancing to either meet Cape Breton or Dalhousie on Saturday evening. The X-Women lost to eventual AUS champions Cape Breton 1-0 in the semi-finals at last year's championship.
