X-Women Split Weekend Games

Sep 17, 2007 - In X-Women soccer action played Saturday afternoon at Acadia, the X-Women braved the cold, wet weather to outlast the Axewomen for a 2-0 win. Teresa Morrison and Eugenia Renderos scored second half goals just two minutes apart at the 86 and 88 minute marks for StFX while Heidi Felderhof earned the shutout win in nets. Morrison was named Player of the Game for the X-Women while Acadia‰Ûªs Kim Wallace received the same honor for the Axewomen.\r\n\r\nOn Sunday afternoon at the StFX Oland Stadium, the X-Women fell victim to a 1-0 loss by the Saint Mary‰Ûªs Huskies. The lone goal of the game was scored 37 minutes in by Katie Little of the Huskies. The X-Women were pressuring late in the second half and had several good scoring opportunities but couldn‰Ûªt put the ball in the net. Midfielder Nicole Melong was named the Player of the Game for X while goaltender Ashleigh Bell-Fontaine was the Player of the Game for the Huskies.\r\n\r\nThe X-Women (1-2-1) next see action on Wednesday at home when they host the Dalhousie Tigers (2-1-1) at 3pm.
