Tyson Beukeboom of the CIS champion StFX X-Women rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 4, 2012.
Beukeboom, a fourth year No. 8 player from Uxbridge, Ont., capped off a spectacular season, being named the tournament most valuable player this past weekend as the No. 1-ranked X-Women captured the 2012 CIS women's rugby championship in front of over 5,000 fans at Oland Stadium in Antigonish, N.S.
It marked the third CIS title in school history, having also won in 2006 and 2010. The 15-time AUS champions were playing in a remarkable fifth consecutive CIS final, and their sixth in the last seven years.
The X-Women were 3-0 at the championship, including a 37-0 win over Guelph in the gold-medal game. In the final, StFX was ahead 5-0 at halftime before Tyson scored the X-Women’s second try of the game, kick starting a second half 32-point explosion.
Beukeboom, the three-time reigning AUS player of the year, was also named to the tournament all-star team, and earlier in the week picked up her second consecutive CIS all-Canadian designation.

Andrew Murphy of the Cape Breton Capers men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 4, 2012.
Murphy, a fifth-year keeper from Liverpool, England, was named the most valuable player of the 2012 Subway AUS men’s soccer championship hosted by UPEI this past weekend in Charlottetown.
Andrew led his team to three wins in three days, including a 1-0 semifinal win over CIS No. 7-ranked Saint Mary’s and a 2-0 victory over the CIS No. 10-ranked and top-seeded UNB Varsity Reds.
The 6-foot-4, fifth-year senior was solid all weekend, picking up all three wins, including two shutouts, and he also scored his first career goal, the game-winner in penalty kicks versus the Huskies. Murphy turned aside 26 of the 28 shots on goal by his opponents over the course of the weekend, a span of over 300 minutes played.
His performance helped Capers capture the program's third AUS men's soccer banner since 2007.
