X-Women keep rolling in AUS rugby action

The CIS No. 1 X-Women rugby team keep on rolling in AUS competition this season, picking up their seventh consecutive win on Friday night with an 81-0 victory over St. Thomas in Fredericton.

Led by Subway player of the game Vanessa Duffley who scored three tries and kicked two conversions, the X-Women easily handled the Tommies on a chilly New Brunswick evening.

Veteran prop Olivia DeMerchant scored three tries for the X-Women, while Casey Jones scored two.

The X-Women then had seven different players cross the try line to contribute to the win. Single tries were scored by Ashley Brooker, Ellen Murphy, Jayme Ward, Carolyn Stewart, Kelly Mitchell, Michaela Halsey and Natalie Lesco.
Sabrina McDaid booted two conversions to round out the scoring.

With the win the X-Women improve to 7-0 on the season and have outscored their opponents by a staggering 593-3 margin. They will close out AUS regular season play on Friday, October 19th in Wolfville, NS with a game against the second place (5-1) Acadia Axewomen.

The X-Women will then host the Subway AUS championship at StFX Oland Stadium October 27-28. Semifinal games are slated for 12:00 and 2:00 pm on Saturday, followed by the championship game Sunday at 2:00 pm.
