Amanda Thornborough of the CIS No. 1-ranked StFX X-Women rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 7, 2012.
Thornborough, a fifth-year Arts student from Brandon, Man., was named the Subway player of the game this past week as the top-ranked X-Women (6-0) remained undefeated with a 90-0 home win over the No. 10-ranked Acadia Axewomen.
Amanda, a two-time AUS all-star and the 2009 AUS rookie of the year, scored three tries in the victory and is currently fourth in league scoring with nine tries for 45 points in six regular season games.
The X-Women also went 3-0 this past weekend in non-conference play, defeating No. 8-ranked Concordia 43-3, No. 9-ranked McGill 51-20 and John Abbott College by a score of 66-0.

Graham MacDonald of the Memorial Sea-Hawks men’s cross country team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 7, 2012.
MacDonald, a second year Masters of Science student, edged out StFX’s Riley Johnston in a sprint to the finish to capture the Acadia Invitational on a wet, soggy Saturday afternoon in Wolfville.
Graham won the 8km event with a time of 27:30, and was the top finisher in the field of 35 participants that included runners from seven AUS universities. He was the lone Memorial runner in the field, opting to compete while visiting family in Halifax for the Thanksgiving weekend while his teammates prepare for the UNB/St. Thomas Invitational in Fredericton, N.B., next weekend.
