X-Women shutout Acadia 51-0 in wet conditions
The CIS ranked No. 1 X-Women rugby team improved their record to 5-0 with a decisive 51-0 shutout victory over the Acadia Axewomen Wednesday night in a cold, wet and windy game played in Wolfville, NS.
The X-Women built up a 29-0 lead at half-time and built upon that lead in the second half, keeping the Axewomen off the board.
Tyson Beukeboom scored two tries for the X-Women, while seven other StFX players were credited with single tries including Asya Bartley, Julie Emmerson, Jessica Jacobs, Vicky Myddelton, Sara Kaljuvee, Magali Harvey and Jamee George. Emma Taylor booted three converts for six points for StFX.
The X-Women will now hit the road for some exhibition action against NCAA schools. Friday night they will face West Point (Army), while on Sunday they will play Brown University. One AUS regular season game remains on their schedule on Oct. 15th when they will host the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
