X-Women rugby dominant in 53-0 win over Panthers

The StFX X-Women cruised to a 53-0 victory over the UPEI Panthers in AUS rugby action Saturday evening.
 
More than 200 fans cheered the CIS #1 ranked X-Women to the Homecoming win at Oland Stadium in Antigonish, NS.
 
The X-Women (4-0) opened the scoring less than three minutes into the match on a try by Lisa Gauthier. With the Magali Harvey conversion, the blue and white led 7-0.
 
Asya Bartley, in her first match of the regular season, extended the lead with a try.
 
With Harvey’s second conversion, the X-Women led 14-0.
 
In a 41-point first half, Tyson Beukeboom, with two, Jess Jacobs, Amanda Thornborough and Gauthier, with her second, scored trys, while Harvey added a third conversion.
 
With several bench players on the pitch, the X-Women tacked on two more trys – one each by Steph MacKinnon and Olivia DeMerchant, along with an Emma Taylor conversion.
 
The X-Women return to regular season action Wednesday, Oct. 5 when they visit Wolfville, NS, to face the Acadia Axewomen, while the Panthers will visit Halifax, NS, Saturday, Oct. 8, to face the host Saint Mary’s Huskies.
