CIS No. 1 X-Women defeat SMU 57-17
The CIS No. 1 X-Women continued their dominating play in the Atlantic University Sport conference by posting a 57-17 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Halifax Sunday afternoon.
The defending CIS champions established a commanding 50-0 lead at half-time.
Freshman winger Danielle Robb led the X-Women attack with 15 points as she scored three tries in the game. Danielle Mayo connected for six conversions to score 12 points for StFX.
Olivia DeMerchant scored two tries for the X-Women, while single tries were scored by Katie Archibald, Lisa McGrath, Mia Huysmans and Lauren Wilks.
Replying for the Huskies in the second half were Sarah Larkin and Jean Baker with tries, and Renee Champagne kicked two conversions and one penalty goal.
Robb earned Player of the Game honors for her effort.
The X-Women improve to 2-0 on the season and will next see action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when they travel to Charlottetown for an afternoon match against the UPEI Panthers, who also hold a 2-0 record. Saint Mary’s fall to 0-2 and will host Acadia (0-2) on Saturday.
