X-Women handle NCAA opponents

The X-Women rugby team participated in three exhibition games south of the border over Thanksgiving weekend and came home with three decisive wins as they defeated Providence rugby club 55-7, Brown University 44-7 and Norwich University 43-0.

In their game against Providence rugby club, Magali Harvey led the StFX attack scoring 17 points as she had 3 tries and 1 conversion. Courtnay Malcolm scored 13 points as she tallied 1 try and 4 conversions.

Individual tries were scored by Asya Bartley, Megan Pritchard, Jessica Jacobs, Megan Porter and Stephanie MacKinnon.

In their 44-7 victory over Brown University, the X-Women held a 10-0 lead at half-time before opening up the game in the second half. 

Tyson Beukeboom and Amanda Bedard each scored two tries, while Julie Emmerson, Magali Harvey, Olivia DeMerchant and Stephanie MacKinnon all scored individual tries. Courtnay Malcolm tallied two conversions in the game.

In the final exhibition game of the weekend, Tyson Beukeboom scored 3 tries as the X-Women shut out Norwich University by a convincing 43-0 margin. Asya Bartley, Bobbi Jo Cronk, Emma Taylor and Alex Munroe all scored one try a piece and Courtnay Malcolm kicked 4 conversions.

With the wins, the X-Women hold a 5-0 exhibition record this season and are also undefeated in AUS competition with a 5-0 record. Their next game comes on the road Friday night when they travel to Acadia to for a regular season game against the second place (4-1) Axewomen.
