X-Women score lopsided win over Huskies

The CIS ranked No. 3 X-Women rugby team earned a lopsided 105-0 win over the visiting Saint Mary’s Huskies Wednesday night at Oland Stadium.

The 12-time defending AUS champions came out strong in the game, establishing a 59-0 lead at half-time.

Twelve different X-Women scored tries in the game. Alex Munroe and Bobbi Jo Cronk each scored three tries a piece, while Allison McGlashen scored two.

Individual tries were scored by Asya Bartley, Olivia DeMerchant, Stephanie Gillis, Jamee George, Tyson Beukeboom, Amanda Bedard, Magali Harvey, Lauren Wilks, and Daniela Mayo.

The remaining points StFX were scored on conversions as Courtnay Malcolm booted 6 conversions, Allison McGlashen scored two and Magali Harvey and Daniela Mayo each kicked one conversion on the night.  

The win improves the X-Women record atop the AUS standings to 5-0. The Huskies fall to 1-4 in third place.

Next on the schedule for StFX is a break from AUS competition as they will travel to the US for three exhibition games on the coming weekend. Saturday the X-Women will play games against both the Providence Rugby Club and Brown University, while on Sunday they will meet Norwich University.

AUS competition resumes when the X-Women travel to Acadia on Oct. 15th for a game against the Axewomen.
