X-Women down Panthers 67-0

The CIS ranked No. 3 X-Women rugby team improved their lead atop the AUS conference with a resounding 67-0 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers Friday night in Homecoming action at StFX Oland Stadium.

Freshman fullback Magali Harvey led the StFX attack scoring 21 points in the game as she tallied 3 tries and 3 conversions, earning her Player of the Game honors.

The X-Women move to 4-0 on the season and currently have 234 points scored for to only 3 points allowed against.

StFX opened up the game with a 36-0 lead at half-time. First half tries were scored by Asya Bartley, Julie Emmerson, Jill MacLaren, Megan Pritchard, Magali Harvey and Olivia DeMerchant. Harvey scored one conversion and Courtnay Malcolm booted one in the opening half as well. 

Second half action saw Pritchard score her second try of the game, followed by a Harvey conversion. Jamee George got on the score sheet for a StFX try and Harvey kicked her third conversion of the night.

Harvey then scored two consecutive tries for the blue and white, one being a 45 yard sideline break to increase the lead to 60-0. Bartley rounded out the scoring with her second try of the game after breaking a couple tackles and going on a long run down midfield from just over half. Malcolm picked up her second conversion of the game on the Bartley try to round out the X scoring in the 67-0 victory.

The X-Women will next see action on Wednesday night, Oct. 6 when they host the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
