X-Women rugby open with 46-5 exhibition win

The 11-time defending AUS champion X-Women rugby team played an exhibition game Wednesday afternoon in Halifax against the Saint Mary’s Huskies and came away with a 46-5 win.

Rookie Amanda Thornborough led the StFX attack with 3 tries in the game, while reigning CIS Player of the Year Ghislaine Landry scored 1 try and added 3 conversions.

\r\n

Olivia Demerchant, Lisa Gauthier, Megan Pritchard and Stephanie Gillis added single tries for the X-Women. Barbara MacDonald replied for the Huskies with their single try.

\r\n

The X-Women will play another exhibition game on Sunday afternoon when they host the two-time defending CIS champion Lethbridge Pronghorns at 2:00 pm at StFX Oland Stadium.
