X-Women Rugby atop AUS

The X-Women rugby team wrapped up regular season AUS play Wednesday night in Halifax with a 60-0 shutout win over the Saint Mary's Huskies. The win gives them a perfect 6-0 record on the season and first place overall in the AUS. Reigning CIS Player of the Year Ghislaine Landry scored 7 tries in the game, breaking her own AUS record of most tries in a game of 6 from earlier this year. Landry also broke the AUS record of most points scored by an individual in a game with 35.

Overall she has 22 tries on the season and 1 conversion, good for 112 points, second in the AUS to teammate Courtnay Malcolm who has 135 points (11 tries, 37 conversions and 2 penalty kicks). X-Women rookie Lisa Gauthier is third in the points standings with 50 (10 tries) and Kim Armstrong finished fourth with 40 points (8 tries). Armstrong and Malcolm each scored tries in the recent win over Saint Mary's, while Malcolm added 6 conversions and a penalty goal.  

With the win, X-Women cap off a perfect regular season where they did not allow a point scored against them in six games. They finished with 416 points for compared to none against, becoming the only AUS school to accomplish such a feat in the 11 year history of the sport. With the first place finish, the X-Women earned the right to host the AUS championship game which will be held Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2:00 pm at Oland Stadium.
