\r\n X Ruggers pummel Panthers \r\n Sep 6, 2008 - The 10-time defending AUS champions proved they are once again a force to be reckoned with this season in AUS women's rugby competiton with a decisive 74-0 romp over the UPEI Panters in Charlottetown Saturday afternoon in their first regular season game. Led by AUS all-star Courtnay Malcolm who scored 29 points, the X-Women built up an intimidating 47-0 lead at half-time. Malcolm scored three tries for the blue and white and had seven converts. Reigning CIS Player of the Year Ghislaine Landry scored three tries for the X-Women, while freshman Lisa Gauthier also put three tries on the scoreboard. Rounding out the scoring for X were Kim Armstrong, Tamara Boiteau and Jillian MacLaren who each scored a try. \r\nThe X-Women next see action on Saturday afternoon when they will host the Acadia Axewomen at 3:00 in their home opener at Oland Stadium. \r\n |
