Willie Joe Sofan is in his 15th season as an assistant coach with the X-Women program, and has been helping with the recruiting duties for the past decade. Prior to coaching with the X-Women, he was the head coach of the Inverness Rebels Boys high school hockey team for three seasons, winning a league and provincial championship. Willie Joe started his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Strait Jr. B Pirates while attending StFX. A local elementary classroom and physical education teacher, Willie Joe is a graduate of StFX’s Human Kinetics (2004) and Education (2006) programs and has a Master’s degree from Memorial University (2013). Willie played Jr. A hockey for both the Truro Bearcats and Antigonish Bulldogs and led the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey league in scoring with Cape Breton West.
