Hockey X-Women to host Windsor in exhibition play

The CIS ranked No. 6 X-Women will hit the ice this coming weekend for a pair of exhibition games against out-of-conference opponent Windsor. Friday night, December 28th the X-Women will host the Windsor Lancers at the StFX Keating Centre at 7:00 pm, following up with a Saturday afternoon game at 2:00 pm.
The X-Women wrapped up the first half of AUS regular season play with a 10-1-0 record and currently sit in first place with 20 points, one ahead of second place St. Thomas (9-2-1). Moncton (7-5-0) and Saint Mary’s (6-5-2) are tied for third place with 14 points apiece.
The Windsor Lancers play in the 11-team OUA conference and with a 9-6-2 record sit in fifth place with 20 points on the season, 10 back of first place Wilfrid Laurier (14-1-2). They are led by top scoring forward fifth year veteran Alyssa Baldin who is fifth overall in OUA scoring with 21 points (13 goals, 8 assists). Third year forward Courtney Spoors has 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) on the season, while third year forward Candice Chevalier has notched 15 points to date (8 goals, 7 assists).
The Lancers are coached by Jim Hunter, in his third season behind the Windsor bench. Windsor will also be playing the Saint Mary’s Huskies on Sunday afternoon in Halifax as part of their Atlantic coast exhibition swing.
Guiding the X-Women is head coach David Synishin, in his 11th season. Third year forward and 2011-12 AUS most valuable player Alex Normore leads the Atlantic conference in scoring with 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists), while first year forward Schyler Campbell (5 goals, 4 assists) and veteran forwards Aby Laking (4 goals, 5 assists) and Brittney Perkins (4 goals, 5 assists) are all tied for fifth place in AUS scoring with 9 points apiece. Third year goaltender Kristy Garrow has a perfect 6-0-0 record and is third in the nation with a .946 goals against average for the X-Women.
