X-Women Hockey Undefeated in Regular Season Play

CIS No. 3 Ranked X-Women won back to back shutout games on the road this past weekend. Saturday afternoon StFX defeated Saint Mary’s 3-0 and Sunday afternoon defeated Dalhousie 5-0. X-Women finished their regular season in 1st place with a perfect 24-0 record. 

In Saturday afternoon’s game against Saint Mary’s the X-Women scored a goal in each period to win the game 1-0. First period Janelle Parent (10:06), assisted by Alex Normore and Suzanne Fenerty, was the first to get on the board with a power play goal.

Second period with a second remaining X-Women’s Alex Normore sneaks one past Huskies goalie Jillian MacIsaac to bring the score to 2-0. Parent and Molly MacDonald with the assist.

With her second goal of the day, Janelle Parent (15:34), assisted by Normore and Brittney Perkins, scored X-Women’s final goal in the third period.

Final shots on net were 34-12 in StFX’s favor. Kristy Garrow was awarded the shutout win and MacIsaac was tagged with the loss.

Sunday afternoon Catie Gavin (11:39), assisted by Erin Brophy, scored X-Women’s lone goal in the first period on the power play.

StFX’s Daniela Falconio (2:29) fired one past net minder Ashley Boutilier in the second period to extend the lead 2-0. Leah Boucher and Nicole Hansom with the assist.

In the third period Daniela Falconio (3:01), assisted by Jessica McCullough scored her second goal of the day. X-Women’s Nicole Hansom (5:23) was the next to get on the board with a power play goal. Fenerty and Parent with the assist. With her second puck across with line, Catie Gavin (16:14) sneaks in X-Women’s final goal. McCullough with the assist. Final score of the game was 5-0.

Final shots on net were 42-26 in StFX’s favor. Katie Greenway was awarded the shutout win while Boutilier was tagged with the loss for the Tigers.

X-Women next see action this Thursday as they take on Mount Allison in the start of the AUS Subway Women’s Hockey Championship hosted by StFX. Game time is 3:00 pm.
