Greenway With a Shutout: X-Women Still Undefeated

CIS No. 3 Ranked X-Women defeated Mount Allison 5-0 this past Tuesday night at home. This is X-Women goalie Katie Greenway's 2nd shutout of regular season. X-Women are still currently undefeated in regular season play with a record of 20-0.

X-Women came out flying in the first period getting three goals, two which were only 12 seconds apart. Erin Brophy (1:54), assisted by Carolyn and Catie Gavin, was the first to get StFX on the board. Seconds later Brittney Perkins (2:06) fires one past Mount Allison’s net minder Meghan Corley-Byrne. Marilynn Hay and Daniela Falconio with the assist. Alex Normore (7:48) scored X-Women’s third goal to end the period at a 3-0 lead. Nicole Hansom and Suzanne Fenerty with the assist.

In the second period the X-Women scored two goals at the end of the period to take the lead 5-0. Catie Gavin (18:10), assisted by Campbell, scored StFX’s forth goal. Molly MacDonald (19:13), assisted by Janelle Parent and Jessica McCullough, scored with less than a minute remaining in the period.


Third period was scoreless making the final score 5-0 for the X-Women.

Total shots on net were 50-13 in X-Women’s favor. Katie Greenway was awarded the shutout and Meghan Corley-Byrne was tagged with the loss.

X-Women next see action on the road this Friday night against Mount Allison and Saturday night in UPEI.
