CIS No. 3 Ranked X-Women defeated Saint Mary’s 6-2 this past Friday night at home. X-Women are still undefeated in regular season play.

In the first period Saint Mary’s Kyla Thurston (6:14) scored on the power play to take an early lead. Nicole Hansom (17:58), assisted by Alex Normore and Jenna Pitts, responded with a power play goal to tie the game at one a piece.

In the second period X-Women went up two goals, both during a power play. Alex Normore (2:52) fired one past the goal line to take the lead. Janelle Parent with the assist. Abygail Laking (13:07) scored StFX’s third goal. Catie Gavin and Jenna Pitts with the assist.

Nicole Hansom (8:32), with her scored power play goal of the night, took the lead 4-1. Normore and Parent with the assist. Seconds later Saint Mary’s Kaitlyn Abbass (8:50) scored to tighten the gab but it was not enough, with the X-Women firing two more goals past net minder Jillian MacIsaac. Alex Normore (14:15) scored her second goal of the night. Assisted by Suzanne Fenerty. Janelle Parent (16:41), assisted by Jenna Downey and Megan Innes, scored StFX’s final goal on the power play to make the score 6-2 final.

Final shots on net were 46-19 in X-Women’s favor. Kristy Garrow was awarded the win while Saint Mary’s MacIsaac was tagged with the loss.

X-Women next see action this Tuesday night against Mount Allison at the Charles V. Keating Centre. Puck drops at 7:30pm.
