Shanahan notches 100th career point as X-Women win two on the road

The X-Women hockey team added a pair of W’s to their win column this weekend, earning a 4-1 win over Mount Allison on Saturday evening and a 6-1 win over UPEI on Sunday afternoon. In the win over UPEI, X-Women assistant captain Jessica Shanahan earned her 100th career point with an assist on StFX’s fourth goal.

Saturday in Sackville, the X-Women jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two periods of play as Carolyn Campbell and Jessica Shanahan scored power play goals. Kate Ehrhardt scored a power play goal for the Mounties eight minutes into the second period but that was the only goal StFX goaltender Katie Greenway would allow as the X-Women went on to win 4-1.

Campbell netted her second goal of the game 3:06 into the third period while Abygail Laking rounded out the X scorer with a power play marker at the 9:53 minute mark. On Sunday afternoon in Chalottetown, the X-Women again got out to an early lead against the UPEI Panthers. MacDonald’s goal was her first ever goal scored in an X-Women uniform.

Perkins scored her second of the game and the only one in the second period, to increase the X lead to 4-0. Shanahan’s assist on the goal marked the 100th point of her four year AUS career to date.
