Ferguson scores for X on return from China
\r\nCatie Gavin scored in overtime as the St. Francis Xavier X-Women edged the Saint Mary’s Huskies 3-2 Sunday in AUS women’s hockey at Saint Mary’s Alumni Arena.
\r\nBrayden Ferguson, just back from a gold-medal performance for Canada at the world university games in China, and Anna Barrett had the other goals for the winners.
\r\nLauren McCusker and Kaitlyn Abbass had the goals for Saint Mary’s. McCusker’s power-play goal at 14:21 of the third period forced overtime.
\r\nKatie Harvieux made 20 stops for the win as the X-Women outshot the Huskies 31-22.
\r\nSt. F.X. finished the regular season in second place behind undefeated Moncton at 19-3-2. Saint Mary’s is fifth at 7-14-3.
