Ice X-Women down Tigers

X-Women hockey improved their record to 15-3-1 with a 4-2 home win Friday night against the Dalhousie Tigers.

The Tigers held an early 1-0 lead after the first period on a goal by Whitney Halloran, but X-Women forward Erin Brophy tied the game with a power play goal at the 11:11 mark of the second period. Laura Grant and Carolyn Campbell assisted on the play.

\r\n

Team leading scorer Brayden Ferguson gave the X-Women the lead in the game with a goal just 4 minutes later, assisted by Christina Davis and Lindsay Brown. Player of the Game Carolyn Campbell increased that lead to 3-1 with an unassisted third period goal.

\r\n

Jocelyn LeBlanc pulled the Tigers to within a goal with just over 9 minutes to go in the game but that was as close as they would come as Christina Davis sealed the win with an empty net goal.

\r\n

Katie Harvieux earned the win in nets for the X-Women, facing 15 shots. Emelie Ederfors took the loss for Dalhousie. The X-Women had 30 shots in the game.

\r\n

StFX will travel to Halifax Friday night for a game against the fifth place Saint Mary’s Huskies (6-11-2), then return home to again host the Dalhousie Tigers (9-10-1).
