Brophy nets 2 goals in X-Women victory

X-Women Player of the Game Erin Brophy scored two goals in a 6-0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties Friday night at the StFX Keating Centre. Katie Harvieux earned the shutout in nets facing only 9 Mounties shots.

Jessica Shanahan opened the scoring in the game for StFX with an early first period goal and Brophy made it 2-0 late in the first. She notched her second goal 12:34 into the second period on the powerplay.

Three different X-Women hit the back of the net in the third period. Kristen Ezard scored at the 12:11 minute mark, followed by goals from Catie Gavin and Kelly Boudreau, who scored a powerplay marker. Anna Barrett and Suzanne Fenerty each had two assists a piece for StFX, who fired 57 shots towards Mounties netminder Alison Heard.

The win improves the X-Women’s record to 11-3-1. They currently sit in second place in the AUS standings, six points behind league leading Moncton who the X-Women will host Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm at the StFX Keating Centre.
