STFX track athletes post results at U SPORTS championship
Members of the STFX Track team competed at the U SPORTS national championship at the University of Windsor.
Windsor, ON – Members of the STFX Track team competed at the U SPORTS national championship over the weekend at the Dennie Fair Hall Field House at the University of Windsor.
STFX had six athletes represented in four different distance running events.
AUS champion Eileen Benoit, a fourth year Education student from Windsor, NS, competed in the 3000m event and placed fifth overall amongst the 12 racers. She crossed the line in a time of 9:46.19.
Fellow AUS 3000m champion on the men's side Brett King also competed in the 3000m at the national stage. The second year Humna Kinetics student from Wolfville, NS came 12th overall with a time of 8:49.22.
The X-Women 4x800m relay team consisting of Poppy Moon (Bedford, NS), Hannah McIntyre (Dorchester, ON), Caroline Ash (Newmarket, ON) and Caden Lee (Richmond Hill, ON) set a new STFX school record with their time of 9:04.87, coming in ninth place in the field of 13. Saskatchewan (8:51.70) won the race, followed by Western (8:51.77) and Laval (8:56.17).
Rounding out the weekend events was third year Human Kinetics student-athlete Caden Lee competing in the women's 1500m race. The AUS champion in the event came 11th overall posting a result of 4:30.20.
