Halifax, NS - Members of the X-Men and X-Women indoor track team competed at the ANS Indoor Open Saturday at the Canada Games Centre. Many STFX runners set personal best records at the meet.

In the women's 3000m race, the X-Women had six racers in the field of 14 including Allie Sandluck whose time of 10:11.07 was good enough for second spot overall. Teammate Eileen Benoit was third at 10:15.11, while Mairin Canning (10:30.39) and Breanna Sandluck (10:30.93) were fifth and sixth, respectively. Julia Cameron (10:58.24) place ninth and Tanna Burke (11:06.51) was tenth.

In the men's 3000m race, Jacob Benoit was the lone X-Men runner, topping the field of 14 with a time of 8:31.16, almost 30 seconds ahead of his closest contender.

The men's 1500m featured Luc Gallant (4:03.54) and Aidan Doherty (4:11.88) come second and third for X behind AUS cross country champion Andrew Peverill (4:48.35) of Saint Mary's.

Fellow female AUS cross country champion Siona Chisholm took top honours in the women's 1500m, clocking in at 4:28.44. The freshman runner was paced by X-Women alumnus Jane Hergett in the race as Chisholm actually set a new STFX record in the event, bettering Hergett's time of 4:30:02 set at the 2020 U SPORTS track championship.

Chisholm was followed by teammate Aidan MacDonald in second place with a 4:39:85 pace, and Taylor Rasmussen (4:55.34) in fifth.

STFX runners also competed in the 600m event. Brynn Hebert was the top X-Women in third place with a time of 1:39.45, followed by Natasha Chojnacki (1:39.91) in fourth. Chloe Walker (1:45.65), Maya Black (1:46.52) and Lauren Liem (1:46.99) were 6-7-8. X-Women alumnus Catherine Kennedy, now running for Halifast, was the overall race winner at 1:34.07.

Another X alumnus took top spot in the men's 600m with Tim Brennan clocking in at 1:22.04. Current X-men runners Tyler Baker (1:27.97) came fifth overall, while Tareke Yared was disqualified and Jack Wierzbicki did not finish.
