X-Men track & field post third place showing at AUS championship

Moncton, NB – The StFX X-Men posted a third place showing at the Subway AUS Championship hosted at the Université de Moncton Friday and Saturday.

In total the X-Men earned six silver medals and three bronze.

AUS Male Track Athlete of the Year Angus Rawling led the X-Men with two individual medals and one relay medal. He claimed the silver medal in both the 1000m (2:31.27) and 1500m (4:03.71) races and was a bronze medalist with the X-Men 4x800m relay team.

With a time of 8:12.94, the 4x800m relay team members included Rawling, Taylor Leger, Quinn Alexander and Alex Neuffer.

Neuffer also won an individual silver medal in the 3000m with an 8:42.41 result.

X-Men sprinter Tim Brennan was the AUS silver medalist in the 60m hurdles (8.97) and was followed by teammate Jonathan Heidebrecht (9.03) in third who claimed the bronze. Both were also members of the X-Men 4x200m relay team, along with Jonathan West and Eric Sutton, who won bronze with a 1:35.32 time.

Sutton, Brennan and Alexander, along with Justin Major, were silver medalists in the 4x400m relay, finishing at 3:30.02.

Wrapping up the X-Men medal results was Bradley Wood in the field events as he won silver in the weight throw with a 14.67m second place throw.

The X-Men finished the championship with 73 points in third place, behind first place Dalhousie (153) and second place UNB (83).
