X-Women track competes in Halifax
The X-Women track and field team competed at their second meet of the indoor season this past Saturday in Halifax at the Athletics NS Open. All events were held at the Canada Games Center. StFX had athletes competing in the majority of running and jumping disciplines.

Four X-Women ran in the 60m dash, including Nadine Otten (8.35), Jillian Nolan (8.43) and Bridget Brennan (8.47), who placed 9th through 11th places, respectively. Lauren Agnew was 13th at 8.54 seconds. 

Otten also ran the 60m hurdles and was the top StFX finisher in second place with a time of 9.69. Susie Lajoie, the MVP of the 2012 AUS championship meet, was close behind in third place at 9.76. 

In the 300m dash, Eilish MacQuarrie placed second overall and ran a personal best time of 42.18. Heidi Stirling was fourth at 42.66, Brennan placed 9th at 44.23 and Nolan was 13th at 47.78.

MacQuarrie picked up another personal best time in the 600m race, winning the event with a time of 1:38.17. Stirling was behind her in second place at 1:38.21 and Sarah Deveau placed sixth for the X-Women at 1:44.38.

Kathyrn Tuck was the lone StFX competitor in the 1500m event, coming in fifth overall as she crossed the line in a time of 5:17.08.

Seven X-Women distance runners took part in the 3000m race and it was blue and white leading the way and sweeping the first four spots. Melissa Hardy won the race in a time of 10:13.88. She was followed by teammates Natalie Kannenberg (10:14.64), Alexa Zarins (10:32.99) and Natasha Herron (10:33.87). Lynette Manual (10:55.01) placed sixth, followed by Kendra MacNeil (11:23.30) in 10th and Ginny Anderson (11:59.54) in 12th.

The X-Women were the top team in the women’s 4x200 m relay race, clocking in with a time of 1:53.63.

In the jumping events, Lauren Agnew placed second in the high jump (1.58m) and 11th in the long jump (4.28m). Rebecca Bell was 8th in the high jump (1.46m) and fifth in the triple jump (10.35m), while Susie Lajoie was fourth in both the long jump (4.83m) and triple jump (10.35m). Bridget Brennan also competed in the long jump event for X and placed 7th with a 4.64m jump.

Next on the schedule for the StFX squad is the McGill Invitational on Montreal, slated for January 25-26th.
