X-Men track compete in final AUS regular season meet
The X-Men track and field team competed in their final meet of the season prior to the AUS championship this past weekend at the Tiger Track Classic hosted at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

The X-Men had 12 athletes compete in the 60m dash, with two moving on to the 10-man final. Mackenzie Munroe placed ninth overall with a time of 7.39, followed by Andre Peach in tenth at 7.40. 

Running in the prelims was Charlton Elliott (7.53), Rob Bird (7.55), Chris Shibley (7.55), Jide Ojuawo (7.60), Greg Gilroy (7.67), Jake McKenna (7.70), A.J. Doyle (7.82), Colin Thompson (7.98) and Stuart MacNeil (7.98).

Munroe ran to a first place finish in the 600m race, finishing with a time of 1:22.90. Hayden Peters (1.28.60), Doyle (1:30.40), Alex Vanderlinden (1:31.00) and MacNeil (1:31.90) also competed for X in the race, placing ninth through 12th, respectively.

In the 1000m race, Gabe Quenneville was the top StFX finisher in fourth spot with a time of 2:37.10. Bryden Tate was behind him in fifth position at 2:40.50.

Seven X-Men ran in the 1500m race, with Stephen Deering coming in seventh spot at 4:03.80. He was followed by teammates Quenneville (4:05.50) and Tate (4:09.40) in eighth and ninth, while Will Forsey (4:15.90) and Riley Johnston (4:16.30) were 12th and 13th. Stuart MacPherson (4:19.10) and Patrick Marlow (4:23.80) rounded out the X-Men placements in 15th and 16th.

The X-Men did not enter any competitors in the men’s 3000m event.

In the 60m hurdles, Jake McKenna came in fourth with a time of 9.30. He was followed closely by Colin Thompson (9.31) and Greg Gilroy (9.96) in fifth and seventh spots. McKenna also competed in the high jump event, placing fifth overall with a jump of 1.65m.

Rounding out the events were two X-Men in the shot put. Terry Hart came seventh overall with an 11.80m throw, while Devon Martell was 11th at 9.84m.

The X-Men will now focus their efforts on the upcoming Subway AUS championship, scheduled for February 23-24 in Moncton, NB.
