Chrus 3rd at Johnny Miles

June 16, 2008 - StFX cross country was well represented this past weekend in New Glasgow, NS at the 33rd running of the Johnny Miles Marathon and associated races. Recent 2008 X-Men cross country graduate Brendon Chrus from St. Andrew’s, NB placed third overall in the marathon, finishing in a time of 2:45:33. Dartmouth’s Ray Moorehead won the 42 km race in a time of 2:41:21, followed by David MacLennan of Scotsburn, NS at 2:41:31. Chrus’ X-Men teammate Daniel McNeil finished in fifth place overall, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:48:04. McNeil is also a recent 2008 graduate and a native of Glace Bay, NS. No current X runners participated in the half marathon race, although former X-Women runner Lavinia Carreau from Truro, NS won the women’s half marathon in a time of 1:26:42. In the men’s 10 km race, X-Men Ivan Lewis placed third, posting a time of 35:17. Lewis is a New Glasgow, NS native and recently completed his first year with the X-Men squad. In the women’s 10 km race, recent X grad Robyn Erickson from Bedford, NS led the pack, crossing the line in first place in a time of 37:37. Teammate Gina Stewart from Antigonish, NS was second at 38:33. She is currently entering her fourth year with the X-Women cross country program. X-Women Heather Moser and Kaitlyn Watters also took part in the 10k race, finishing with times of 40:54 and 40:56, respectively. Moser returns in the fall for her third year with the X-Women while Watters is a recent 2008 graduate.
