Halifax, NS – Alex Christopoulos had a five-point night as the X-Men easily handled the Dalhousie Tigers 8-0 in mid-week action Wednesday night at the Halifax Forum.
Christopoulos opened up the scoring in the game with a power point marker six and a half minutes into the game then it was all STFX as the visitors outshot the Tigers 42-20 on the night.
Jacob Maillet also scored in the first period to give the X-Men a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The Blue and White found the back of the net four times in the second period, coming from four different marksmen – Zack Trott, Raegan Wiles, Ryan Struthers and Connor Roberts shorthanded – to build up a commanding 6-0 lead.
Ethan Burroughs scored on the power play and Charlie Callaghan on a simple tap-in goal in the third period for the X-Men.
Christopoulos received player of the game honours for his one goal, four assist effort.
Trott finished with a goal and two assists.
Lucas Pfeil earned the shutout win in the X net with 20 saves.
The Tigers drop to 1-10 on the season, losing their seventh in a row. The X-Men are now 6-5, winning their third straight game.
Dalhousie travels to Charlottetown Friday night to face UPEI at 7:00 pm. The X-Men will face the same UPEI squad on Saturday at 7:00 pm at home at the Charles V. Keating Centre.
