Moncton, NB - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus took a 3-0 lead in the first period then topped the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men 5-1 in AUS action Saturday night at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
It was the second win in as many nights for the blue and gold, while the X-Men come away with a weekend split, having previously won Friday night ay UNB.
Nathan Darveau picked up the win in the Moncton net with 15 saves, while Patrick Leaver had 26 saves in the loss for STFX.
Five different players found the back of the net for the home team, including Jeremy Michel (first star of the game), Jérémie Jacob (third star) shorthanded and Jacob Dion in the first period.
There was no scoring in the second period. Denis Toner on the power play and Yann-Félix Lapointe (second star) in the third rounded out the scoring for the Aigles Bleus.
Zack Trott avoided the shutout with a breakaway goal at 6:15 of the third period for STFX.
The X-Men were 0-for-5 on the power play, while Moncton went 1-for-4.
The Aigles Bleues will visit the UNB Reds in Fredericton on Wednesday night. The X-Men have a date with the Acadia Axemen on Saturday at home.
