ANTIGONISH, NS – STFX men's hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce the addition of defenseman Raegan Wiles to the X-Men line-up for the 2023-24 season.

"We are extremely pleased to be adding Raegan to our program," comments Coach Peddle. "He is a high character, intelligent defenceman that moves the puck very well and plays big minutes in all situations. He is very highly regarded among WHL contacts and possesses great leadership skills as captain of his team in Spokane. Raegan will be an excellent fit to our group and a very important addition to our defence as we graduate some key guys on our back end."

Wiles was the captain of the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League (WHL) this past season. The 5'11", 190-pound right-handed defenseman had 38 points (9G, 29A) in 63 games played, sixth overall in team scoring and tops amongst defense. A native of Calgary, Alta., he won the Spokane top defenseman award in 2020-21 and over his four year career with the Chiefs has amassed 75 career regular season points (19G, 56A) over 186 regular season games.

"I am ecstatic to come to STFX in September," notes Wiles. "I have nothing but praise for the university and its hockey program, their development strategy is excellent. I can't wait to continue growing as a hockey player and carrying on with my education at a fantastic university."

Wiles has been accepted into the Business Administration program at STFX this fall and is the first recruit announcement for Coach Peddle to date.
