(Halifax, NS) The St. Francis Xavier X-Men defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 2-1 in AUS men's hockey action at the Halifax Forum Saturday night. The game was played before a crowd of 450.

StFX got on the board first when Eric Locke (Toronto, ON) scored from a one timer in the circle on a 5-on-3 at 7:57 to make it 1-0 after the first period. The goal was assisted by Holden Cook (Oshawa, ON) and Subway player of the game Kristoff Kontos (Penetanguishene, ON).

In the second period, the X-Men struck again when Kontos tallied from the point at 8:35 on the power play, assisted by Nathan Chiarlitti (Maple, ON) and Blake Gal (Lethbridge, AB) to increase the lead to 2-0 after two periods.

The Huskies got it to within one in the third, when Stephen MacAulay (Cole Harbour, NS) potted a marker from in close at 4:10 on the power play, with the assist going to Kyle Pereira (Brampton, ON), but that is as close as they would get.

The Huskies outshot the X-Men 39-24. Drew Owsley (Lethbridge, AB) made 38 saves to get the win for the X-Men. Cole Cheveldave (Calgary, AB) stopped 22 shots in net for the Huskies.

Both teams have finished the first half of their regular season. They begin their second half on January 8th, when the Huskies host the Universite de Moncton Aigle Bleus and the X-Men visit the UPEI Panthers.
