X-Men hockey defenseman Spencer McAvoy is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Spencer recently completed his third year with the X-Men and is an Arts student from St. Albert, Alta.

What brought you to StFX?
Kevin Undershute and his tremendous recruiting skills.

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
The 2011 playoff run and national appearance. It was an awesome run, with some exciting games and memories with a great group of guys.

One thing I cannot live without is…?
My family of course. Technology-wise I would have to go with my iPod, music is a necessity.

If I could have super-hero powers I would…?
I’ll take Professor X and his ability to read minds.

My biggest pet peeve is…?
When Joey Perricone pretends to be the “cool guy”.

My dream vacation destination is…?
Anywhere hot…I need to work on my tan.

My dream job is…?
Being the General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers, I feel I could really turn that team around….but for now I’ll stick to NHL12, the team has a great record.

Tell us one thing that fans may not know about you?
I have been playing the piano since I was 5.
