Lindsay Lessard of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 4, 2015.

A third-year human kinetics student from Waterloo, Ont. Lessard earned tournament all-star honours as the X-Women posted a 3-0 record in exhibition action at the recent MSVU Invitational in Halifax.

She was the high scorer in all of StFX’s three games. In their 71-41 win over Mount Allison, she scored a game-high 18 points and had 11 rebounds. In their 70-69 win over MSVU, she was again the game’s highest scorer and earned player of the game honours with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

In the final game, a 68-59 win over St. Thomas, Lindsay scored a game-high 19 points and had nine rebounds. She is currently second overall in AUS scoring with 16.4 points per game.

Height: 5’10”

Bronson Maschmeyer of the StFX X-Men’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 4, 2015.

A third-year business student from Bruderheim, Alta., Maschmeyer was named Subway player of the game in StFX’s 2-1 victory over the CIS No. 2-ranked Saint Mary’s Huskies on Saturday night.

He scored StFX’s first goal while on the power play in the second period and also created many scoring chances for the X-Men.
