Antigonish, NS—StFX Athletics is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a 'Night of Champions' event on Thursday, December 1st at the StFX Oland Centre main gymnasium.
The event, scheduled from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, will serve to recognize and honor the 2016 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship X-Men and X-Women teams from the fall season, along with the 2016 U Sports national champion X-Women rugby team.
AUS champions include X-Women rugby, X-Women soccer, X-Men cross country and X-Men football. 2009 was the last year that StFX University has produced four AUS conference championship teams from fall sport competition. The X-Women rugby team won an incredible fifth national title earlier this month. Previous national titles were won in 2014, 2012, 2010 and 2006.
The StFX 'Night of Champions' event is open to all fans and supporters and will be free of charge. Athletes, coaches and staff from all four championship teams will be introduced with remarks coming from the head coaches and captains. Trophies and banners will be on display and fans will have the opportunity at the end of the evening to meet the athletes and get autographs and pictures. The first 200 fans admitted to the event will receive a complementary X-Women rugby national championship poster.
