X-Women hockey defense Jenna Downey was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Mar. 1, 2015. Jenna, a first year Education student (5th year eligibility) from Stratford, ON was named the AUS playoff most valuable player, in addition to being honored as an AUS first team all-star this week. The veteran defenseman anchored the StFX blue line in helping lead them to the AUS championship title, defeating Moncton in two straight games. In Monday’s 2-0 win over the Aigles Bleues, Jenna assisted on StFX’s first goal and in their 3-2 double overtime victory on Wednesday, she scored the game tying goal with only 25 seconds left to play in the game, forcing the overtime period. Jenna also had an assist on the first X goal. She was second overall amongst AUS defensemen in scoring this season with 17 points.
