The StFX track & field team competed in their first meet of the 2018-19 season Saturday in Halifax at the Canada Games Centre.

Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2018-19 regular season sport schedules for hockey, basketball and volleyball, as well as the hosts for the 2019 AUS winter championships.

X-Women hockey forward Daley Oddy was named the StFX Female Student-Athlete of the Year, while X-Men soccer striker Daniel Hayfield and X-Men cross country/track & field distance runner Angus Rawling were co-awarded StFX Male Student-Athlete of the Year honors at the awards gala celebrated Wednesday evening.

A pair of X-Women athletes represented StFX University at the U SPORTS national championship over the weekend.

Third year X-Men distance runner Angus Rawling made history Friday night at the U SPORTS national track and field championship, becoming the first StFX track & field athlete – male or female – to win a national gold medal.

X-Women sprinter Beth Lawrence was honoured as the recipient of the U SPORTS Student-Athlete Community Service award at the championship luncheon Thursday in conjunction with the national championship.

The StFX X-Women track & field team placed second overall at the Subway AUS Championship hosted at the Université de Moncton Friday and Saturday.

It did not take long for St. FX’s newest track and field coach, three-time Olympian Eric Gillis, to see his 3000m school record get erased. History was made on Saturday, February 10th when Angus Rawling bested all 3000m runners but seven in a field of 167 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational meet, thanks to a clocking of 8:08.06. The mark bested Gillis’ school record of 8:11.27, set in 2004 at the same meet. The world-class marathoner’s time was previously perceived as all but mythical, as the only athlete to run within ten seconds of it had been Connor McGuire in 2013.

Third year X-Men track & field distance runner Angus Rawling (Calgary, AB) set a new StFX record in the 3000m event, racing to a personal best time of 8:08.06 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational meet on Saturday evening at the BU Track & Tennis Center.

StFX track & field athletes wrapped up AUS regular competition Saturday at the SMU Open at the Canada Games Centre. The competition was the final one to prepare for the upcoming Subway AUS Championship, slated for February 23-24 at the Université de Moncton.

StFX X-Men and X-Women track & field athletes competed at the McGill Team Challenge on Friday and Saturday in one of the largest indoor meets in the country.

The X-Men and X-Women track & field teams competed at the Athletics NS Indoor Open & Club Championship on Friday evening and Saturday at the Canada Games Center in a range of sprints, distance and jumping events.

he StFX X-Men and X-Women and Dalhousie Tigers competed in a dual meet at the Canada Games Centre Sunday evening. The unique event marked the first time the StFX track & field team participated in such an event.

The StFX track & field team competed at their first meet of the season Saturday at the Canada Games Centre. Numerous sprinters and jumpers competed in many events for both the X-Women and X-Men squads.

X-Women track & field sprinter Allie Flower is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Allie is a fourth year human Nutrition student from Lunenburg, N.S.
