Moncton, NB – The StFX X-Women track & field team placed second overall at the Subway AUS Championship hosted at the Université de Moncton Friday and Saturday.

The team took home two gold, five silver and five bronze medals. Fifth year sprinter/jumper Hayley Wilson won three individual medals and took home a fourth as a member of the 4x200m relay team. She was the AUS gold medalist in the triple jump with an 11.28m finish, along with winning bronze in the 60m dash (7.89) and the challenging pentathlon event (3240).

The X-Women 4x200m relay team of Wilson, Beth Lawrence, Samantha Taylor and Allie Flower were AUS silver medalists, clocking in with a time of 1:45.70 behind Dalhousie at 1:45.09.

Allie Flower also won four medals for the X-Women. She was the AUS gold medal champion in the 300m dash with a time of 40.36. She followed up with a silver medal in the 600m with a time of 1:36.98. The fourth year sprinter added the silver medal in the 4x200m relay and another silver in the 4x400m relay. Team members in the 4x400m were Lawrence, Megan Graham and Jane Hergett. They had a time of 4:04.22 in second place, behind Dalhousie at 4:00.43.

The X-Women 4x800m relay team also won silver. Hergett, Rachel MacDougall, Paige Chisholm and Hana Marmura clocked in with a 10:00.01 result.

The X-Women's fifth silver medal of the championship belonged to high jumper Lani Deakin who had a 1.48m result to claim the medal.

In addition to Wilson's pair of bronze medals, Megan Graham won bronze in the 60m hurdles (9.46) and Rachel MacDougall took home a pair of bronze medals, placing third in both the 1500m (4:54.03) and 3000m (10.27.14) races.

The X-Women finished with 99 team points in the championship, good enough for second spot overall behind Dalhousie (144.50) and ahead of Moncton (57).

Fourth year sprinter Beth Lawrence was honoured as the AUS Female Community Service award winner in the awards banquet that followed the championship.
