Atlantic University Sport announced the 11 nominees for the 2016 James Bayer Memorial Scholarship Award today. Each of AUS’s 11 member athletic departments put forth one nominee, with StFX's being X-Men hockey defenceman Nathan Chiarlitti.

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) Varsity Reds captured the CIS University Cup crown with a 3-1 win over the rival StFX X-Men in the gold medal game Sunday night at Scotiabank Centre.

StFX advance to CIS final after thrilling triple-OT win

On the strength of the fourth goal of the tournament from freshman forward Michael Clarke, the StFX X-Men (#3) punched their ticket to the CIS University Cup final with a dramatic 2-1 triple-overtime victory over the Saskatchewan Huskies (#2) Saturday afternoon at Scotiabank Centre.

The StFX X-Men (#3) scored six unanswered goals in a convincing 6-2 win over the Alberta Golden Bears (#6) in the second quarter-final game of the 2016 CIS University Cup Thursday night at Scotiabank Centre.

X-Men hockey head coach Brad Peddle has been honored as the CIS Coach of the Year. Defenceman Nathan Chiarlitti is the recipient of the CIS Dr. Randy Gregg award and forward Eric Locke was named a CIS first team All-Canadian at the gala awards banquet in conjunction with the CIS national championship Wednesday night.
