X-Men hockey to host Team Stock Night on Jan. 30th

When the StFX X-Men hockey team host the Saint Mary's Huskies on Saturday, January 30th at 7:00 pm, it will be Team Stock Night with some special events going on in an ongoing effort to raise funds for the Dean Stock educational fund.

Dean Stock is an X-Men hockey alumnus who is continuing to battle Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, a progressive neurodegenerative disease. Dean and his brother P.J. Stock, a Hockey Night in Canada analyst, were teammates of current X-Men head coach Brad Peddle when they all played at StFX.

This Saturday night, the X-Men will be wearing specialty Team Stock jerseys during warm-up which will in turn be autographed and auctioned off during the game. Raffle tickets will also be sold on a StFX Team Stock jersey signed by the entire X-Men team. Proceeds from the 50/50 sales that evening will be donated towards the cause and Team Stock T-shirts will be on sale throughout the game.

The X-Men have been selling the Team Stock T-shirts at the price of $20 since last season as they continue to raise awareness for ALS and Dean's cause. If you can't make it to the game, T-shirts are available at the StFX Oland Centre or by contacting info@goxgo.ca

Dean Stock played with the X-Men for three seasons from 1998 to 2001, collecting 64 points (28 goals and 36 assists) and 199 penalty minutes in 78 AUS regular season games. He was the X-Men's most improved player in 1999-00 and received team most valuable player honors in 2000-01. PJ Stock played one season for the X-Men in 1996-97, earning AUS all-rookie honors and the X-Men unsung hero award before being signed by the New York Rangers in 1997 and going on to enjoy a seven year NHL/AHL career.
