Mousseau, Martin & Turnsek invited to CFL Invitational Combine

A trio of X-Men defensive players including Jay Turnsek, Brandyn Martin and Hunter Mousseau have been invited to the upcoming CFL Invitational Combine in Waterloo, Ont. this March. The Combine features draft-eligible prospective athletes from U SPORTS and NCAA schools.

Hunter Mosseau is a 6'2", 243-pound defensive lineman who hails from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and is a fifth year Human Kinetics student. In eight games played this season he recorded 16.0 tackles, averaging 2.0 tackles/game. His stats included 2.5 sacks for a loss of 16 yards, as well as 3.5 tackles for a loss of 20 yards, along with one forced fumble and a break-up.

Brandyn Martin is a 6'0", 202-pound defensive back from Melfort, Sask. who was an X-Men co-captain and two-time AUS defensive all-star (2023, 2022). He was 12th overall in conference tackling this past season, averaging 4.0 tackles per game with a total of 32.0. Martin, a 2023 U SPORTS East West Bowl participant, also had four tackles for a loss of 20 yards, one forced fumble, two interceptions, seven breakups and one block. The second year Education student is a three-time Academic All-Canadian student-athlete.

Jay Turnsek is a 5'11", 205-pound defensive back from North Bay, Ont. who is a fifth year Science student. In eight games played this past season he recorded 21.5 tackles, averaging 2.7 tackles/game which included three sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss of 28 yards. Turnsek also had one forced fumble and 1 breakup for the three-time AUS champion X-Men. A participant in the 2023 U SPORTS East West Bowl, Turnsek is also a four-time Academic All-Canadian student-athlete.

OVER 140 NATIONAL AND GLOBAL PROSPECTS SET FOR COMBINE SEASON

Draft hopefuls to take part in the CFL Invitational Combine in Waterloo and the CFL Combine in Winnipeg

TORONTO (February 8, 2024) – Ahead of the Canadian Football League (CFL) Draft and CFL Global Draft on April 30, over 140 draft-eligible prospects are slated to showcase their skills for the league's general managers, coaches and player personnel.

The University of Waterloo's Feridun Hamdullahpur Field House will be home to the CFL Invitational Combine on March 8. The top prospects identified at the event will join the top-ranked class of 2024 at the Winnipeg Soccer Federation North indoor facility for the CFL Combine presented by New Era from March 19 to 24.
