Pita Pit STFX X-Men Football Offensive Athlete of the Week

X-Men receiver Ben Harrington was named the STFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 27, 2023. Ben, a fourth year business student from Dartmouth, N.S. led all X-Men receivers in their 22-8 win over Bishop's on Saturday to kick off the AUS season. He had 7 catches for 87 yards, averaging 12.4 yards per reception. Ben hauled in a 43-yard touchdown pass with a minute left in the 2nd quarter to give the X-Men a 16-8 halftime lead. He also had two kick-off returns for 27 yards and nine punt returns for 61 yards on special teams.

Pita Pit STFX X-Men Football Defensive Athlete of the Week

X-Men defensive lineman Alex Fedchun was named the STFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 27, 2023. Alex, a sixth year Arts student from Calgary, Alta. led the X-Men defense with 8 tackles in their 22-8 season opening win over Bishop's Saturday, recording 3 solo and 10 assisted tackles. Alex had 2.5 sacks in the game for a loss of 15 yards, and in doing so broke the STFX all-time career sack record of 18. He now has 19.5 career sacks and is fifth overall on the AUS career sacks list.

Pita Pit STFX X-Men Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week

X-Men fullback Joe Hancock was named the STFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 27, 2023. Joe, a third year Human Kinetics student from London, Ont. had outstanding long snapping and special teams coverage Saturday afternoon in the X-Men's 22-8 win over Bishop's in the first AUS regular season game. Joe had 2.5 tackles including one solo and three assisted, all coming on special teams as he provided excellent coverage on returns.
