Kaion Julien-Grant honored as U SPORTS special teams player of the week

FRC - U SPORTS Football Players of the Week (#5):
Scott, McKoy, Julien-Grant honoured

TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Saint Mary's quarterback Kaleb Scott, Manitoba defensive back Jayden McKoy and StFX receiver Kaion Julien-Grant are U SPORTS Football Players of the Week, for the period ending September 24, 2017.

A third-year arts student from Mount Albert, Ont., Scott went 21 for 41 for 356 yards passing and a touchdown in the Huskies' 27-26 come-from-behind victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday in Sackville, N.B. He also had 14 carries for 154 yards in the win. Scott is currently leading the AUS conference and sitting second in the country in passing yards per game, averaging 346.5. He is also ranked second in AUS rushing and seventh in the nation, averaging 106.5 yards per game.

McKoy registered interceptions on back-to-back Regina possessions in the second quarter, as Manitoba claimed an 18-16 win over the Rams at Mosaic Stadium. Both McKoy interceptions were critical to Manitoba picking up their first win of the season, as the first was a 47-yard pick six – the lone major on the day for the Bisons – while the next came in the end zone, taking points off the board for Regina.

A third-year human kinetics student in his second year of eligibility from Toronto, Julien-Grant had 10 punt returns for 188 yards in the X-Men's 37-27 win over Bishops on Saturday. In the fourth quarter, he returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown—his third of the day as he also had two receiving touchdowns. Julien-Grant had 312 all-purpose yards in the game, bringing him to 798 yards on the season, good for tops in the AUS and third in the country, as is his 199.5 all-purpose yards per game average.
