Socholotiuk, Peters & Fermin honored as football athletes of the week

X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men running back Jordan Socholotiuk was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, 2016. Jordan, a 3rd year Human Kinetics from Fort McMurray, AB had another big game for the X-Men in their 42-21 win over Acadia Friday night. The player of the game, Jordan rushed for 196 yards on 17 carries, averaging 11.5 yards/carry, including an exciting 70 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter. He also had 2 receptions for 2 yards in the game. Jordan currently leads the AUS in rushing (101-596), averaging 119.2 yards/game and 5.9 yards/carry. He is second in AUS all-purpose yards with 131.2 yards/game.

X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men defensive back Hayden Peters was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, 2016. Hayden, a 1st year Education student (5th yr eligibility) from Inverary, ON led all defensive players in tackles in the X-Men's 42-21 win over Acadia Friday night. He had 9-5 total tackles (8 solo and 3 assisted), which included one sack and 2 tackles for a loss of 8 yards. Hayden also forced a fumble and had 2 break-ups in the game. He is currently 8th overall in AUS defense with 26 tackles on the season, averaging 5.2 tackles/game.

X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men defensive back Nathaniel Fermin was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, 2016. Nathaniel, a 3rd year Business student from Pickering, ON was honored for his great defensive coverage and effort in the X-Men's 42-21 win over Acadia Friday night. Nathaniel was part of a special teams defense that allowed only 5 total return yards on 11 kicks, an average of only 0.5 yards per return. He 4 tackles in the game (3 solo and 2 assisted) including a tackle for a loss of 1 yard.
