Bailey, Dickson, Peters & DeBellotte receive football player of the week honors

X-Men tailback Ashton Dickson was named co-winner of the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8, 2013. Ashton, a third year Arts student from Ottawa, Ont., scored two touchdowns and led the team in rushing in their recent 31-10 win over Mount A. He scored on a 3 yard rush early in the second quarter and on a 5 yard rush late in the third quarter to give the X-Men key leads in the game. With 25 carries for 114 total yards he led the StFX ground attack. Ashton posted 4 receptions for 25 yards on Friday night and also had 3 kickoff returns for 49 yards on special teams.

X-Men wide receiver Devon Bailey was named co-winner of the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8, 2013. Devon, a fourth year Arts student from Mississauga, Ont., scored a touchdown and led the team in receptions in their recent 31-10 win over Mount A. He scored the first touchdown of the game for the X-Men off a 26 yard Clay Masikewich pass late in the first quarter. His 8 receptions for 123 yards topped all receivers in the game as he averaged 15.4 yards per reception.

X-Men football defensive end Hayden Peters was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8, 2013. Hayden, a second year human kinetics student from Inverary, Ont. was the Subway Player of the Game in the X-Men's 31-10 victory over Mount A on Friday night. He led the X-Men defense with 9.5 tackles (7 solo and 5 assisted) including one tackle for a loss of yards. In his dual role as the X-Men kicker, he also booted 4 kickoffs for 212 yards and 8 punts for 305 yards.

X-Men defensive end Kyle DeBellotte was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8, 2013. Kyle, a fourth year arts student from Ajax, Ont., stood out on special teams coverage this past Friday night in the X-Men's 31-10 victory over Mount A. His intelligence play and defensive special teams coverage helped in guiding the X-Men to their first victory of the season. Kyle also had 2 solo tackles on the X-Men defensive line.
