Atlantic University Sport and Eastlink TV announce 2012 football broadcast schedule
(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Atlantic University Sport and Eastlink TV are pleased to announce the 2012 football broadcast schedule, which will kick off on Saturday, September 1st. An AUS football game will be shown live and in High Definition, each Saturday throughout the season leading up to the Subway AUS Loney Bowl championship game scheduled for November 10th.

The 2012 season will once again see Eastlink TV broadcast eight regular season games, two post-season contests and one pre-season game. Pre-season competition returned to the schedule in 2011 for the first time since 2001.

The regular season will open on Saturday, September 8th when Perry Marchese makes his head coaching debut as the Saint Mary’s Huskies face the reigning CIS coach of the year Jeff Cummins and the defending champion Acadia Axemen in Wolfville, N.S., in a rematch of the 2011 Subway AUS Loney Bowl.

The 2012 broadcast schedule will also include the Saint Mary’s Huskies homecoming game versus the Axemen on September 22nd as well as a week two interlock contest featuring the Huskies and the Sherbrooke Vert et Or on Saturday, September 15th.

For the first time ever, the games will be in sparkling High Definition and we see this as an evolution of Eastlink's long history of televising AUS football," said Michael Smith, Vice President of EastLink TV. The AUS post-season will begin on November 3rd, when the second place team hosts the semifinal game with the winner advancing to the 2012 Subway AUS Loney Bowl which will take place on Saturday, November 10th.

The Atlantic conference champion will then travel to Quebec and face the RSEQ champion in the Uteck Bowl on the weekend of November 16-17. The Uteck Bowl and Mitchell Bowl winners will advance to play each other in the 48th Vanier Cup in Toronto on Friday, November 23rd.

The on-air team of Dan Robertson and John MacNeil will return once again to provide the play-by-play and colour commentary for the ninth consecutive season, while Cecil Wright will patrol the sidelines to provide in-game interviews.
